Not everyone was designed to have kids. It is for sure an easier route. I wasn’t so sure. I never wanted a baby. I really loved my dog. I actually asked my doctor if I would love the baby as much as the dog. He thought there was something wrong with me. Turns out, yes…you love your kids more than you could ever imagine. Sometimes you don’t like them much….but, you always love them. At least I do.
My big chocolate lab, Winston was my best friend, and he was supposed to be here a lot longer. I loved that dog more than most people.
My mother should definitely not have had children; she reminded me daily that she wished she had given me away. She did love her cats, birds, and terrible men.
I always knew I wanted my own, but my own story was so fucked up that I was quite certain I'd do the same and so as not to disappoint, I married the worst man I could and fell out of love with him just as quick and in love with the deepest brown eyes that looked just like mine.
So, here I am, 33 years later to say, it's not roses and sunshine, but my two daughters are the best things I have ever done. I still pick bad men though, apparently, I like to keep things interesting 😂
dogs are the absolute best. I swear they are a gift from God for those who were mistreated. Dogs make up for all the sh!t no one should have to deal with!! Friend, I understand but also wish you would find a kind person. you so deserve it.
Haha, I love this! I also kind of feel this, too. 😅 Babies look like aliens to me. But kids do get cute when they get a bit older. I was even a cute kid! 😊
Definitely babies get cuter as they get older! John was seriously adorable at birth. a clear exception to the root vegetable baby. I'm sure you were adorable Cory!
I lived in the same place for fifteen years until I moved late last summer, and I had a neighbor down the road, who I never met but always saw him out walking a dog. He was quite obviously very elderly, and it was never the same dog, or, at least, it seemed to always be a new dog. I have to assume he was a foster parent. I think, when my days grow short, I’d like to do the same thing. Take a little love, give a little love. Not forever, just for now.

I really like this piece. You told it how you feel and no one can fault you for it. But something tells me you would be a great mom…
Not everyone wants to take care of an angry root vegetable
Loved seeing a different perspective on this
Really excellent piece. I have a daughter, but certainly understand why children are not for some. Really well done.

But yeah... they are little shits, too....

I feel that! Root vegetable baby!! 😂 Never heard that, that's hilarious! It makes me think of those mandrakes!
Yeah, probably not as a baby. I heard I was a roly poley. I rolled everywhere apparently. 😅 As a toddler and up, though!
Being called "Ba" is just about the sweetest thing! Loved this!
it's the best. he still calls me ba and so does his wife!!
Even with the pain of outliving my dog children, I’m still happy with my choice.
that is honestly the absolute worst

I love this idea. especially elderly dogs that no one wants sadly 😔
You don't have to have a baby. You do you. Maybe that changes one day, maybe it doesn't. Just have a good life.
absolutely. part of me wishes I had one before I had a chance to think about it! but I have John and my pups!!!
yes definitely no on kids lol! ty so much.
