I get so heated about injustice as well. Sometimes I'll write cathartic stories where I brutally get revenge on some of the people causing problems in the world. It can help. 🫣
Thank you so much! Right now I'm finishing the way home, a series someone from substack recommended, also the Lioness on Paramount and there's a new season of Jack reacher on prime. Also loved Yellowstone and Dutton ranch. There's a lot but these are my most recent.. Usually I'm watching baseball ⚾!
Love you friend. Please keep tagging me, every day. Even if I forget. It's me, not you. I am absent minded, ADHD, battling depression, that problem of Substack feeling like a job, writers block, but I do love our daily haiku. I believe your dream is going to come true. Just keep doing what you are doing.
I remember one true crime that got me heated was the Exonerated Five Case. If you hadn't seen the documentary you should but it would really make your blood boil.
What you wrote about Substack becoming another job the moment we start thinking about subscribers, engagement and where all of this is “leading” really resonated with me.. There is such a strange line between caring about the community we are building and beginning to measure something we originally came here simply because we loved doing it.. I’m still learning where that line is myself..
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from feeling everything at full volume, the injustice, the grief, the guilt over wanting a Tuesday alone. You wrote about a man who lost twenty years to someone else’s certainty, and then in the same breath, about your own reluctance to be certain of anything, even your right to a closed door. That’s not a small connection. Refusing to stay cut and dried, even about yourself is integrity through your bones and blood.
I don’t think you needed AI to sort this. I think you needed someone to witness the whole tangle at once, the prosecutor and the pension and Uncle Paul and the quiet ache of being called needy by a stranger you still haven’t forgiven. It’s all one weather system. Thank you for letting it move through you out loud instead of tidying it first.
Thank you so much for this. “The whole tangle at once” really got me because that’s exactly what it is. None of it stays neatly in its own box. One thing brings up another and suddenly I’m thinking about the prosecutor, Uncle Paul, work, some comment someone made months ago that I apparently still haven’t forgiven. 😂 Maybe I didn’t need it sorted as much as I needed someone to see all of it together. And I’m definitely still working on believing I’m allowed to close the damn door. Thank you for reading it so closely and really getting what I was trying to say....
You definitely had a lot on your mind with this one. I agree that very few things in life are ever as simple as they first seem. I always enjoy your writing.
Yes, exactly. I love the community here and of course I care if people are reading and connecting with what I write. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. But the minute I start obsessing over views, subscribers and whether something “performed,” I can feel it turning into another job. I already have one of those. 😂 I came here because I wanted to write and find people who get it. I’m still trying to remember that when the numbers start messing with my head.

Love you too my friend!!! Life is hard but let's keep relentlessly pushing our way forward 😂

The food left in the car was fully felt, as well as the rest. Powerful points… we must account for… it’s a lot to rectify, somehow

Stay strong. Write because you want too and it is a good way to get perspective.
I am one of those ‘fortunate’ enough to have a pension. However, have paid for it in body and soul.
Look at retirement as an opportunity to do something which just makes you happy and earn a few bucks. Humans were never meant to be idle.
Good to see you back! Great article…thank you. ☺️💛
Good work, I enjoy your thoughtful writing 😊
This was so enjoyable! I was smiling and relating through the whole thing! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you so much! I was afraid my giant brain dump might be impossible to follow, so I’m very happy you enjoyed it and could relate. ❤️
I definitely followed it!! It was so good! 🤗
